iServe Spotlight

Meet GT's iServe Superstars!

Glad Tidings Church is taking this opportunity to honor those who labor among us! We appreciate your dedicated service to the Lord.

This week our iServe Superstar is Pam George!

Pam George has served faithfully as our piano player for many years. She also arranges a great deal of the music that you hear on Sundays. She is a member of our Glad Tidings Sanctuary Choir and very integral in the success of the music ministry. She teaches piano to many of our congregation, in her spare time, as well as mentoring young musicians.

Pam is one of the most anointed musicians that you will ever experience; she has talent, giftedness, and anointing.

World Impact

Glad Tidings Church coming together in prayer for the nations...

Each week, this section of our newsletter will focus on prayer for the unreached people around the globe. We will travel the world over, nation by nation.

Join us this week as we pray for Afghanistan. Below is a little information to consider as you pray for the people of this nation.

Afghanistan:

• Has a population around 30 million.*
• Is one of the least reached countries in the world - there are 48,000 mosques but not a single public church.*
• Is the most dangerous place for a child to be born. Has one of the world's highest infant mortality rates, in part due to lack of clean water supply.*
• Grows 90% of the world's opium-producing poppies. Drugs are a great affliction on the nation.*

Finding Your Place

Hebrews 4:15

"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses..."

It can be a challenge to find our place in this world. Being surrounded by people doesn't mean we won't struggle with loneliness or detachment from time to time. Wounds from the past can leave us feeling rejected and unworthy.

In his book Experiencing the Cross, Henry Blackaby describes the deep distress Jesus experienced in the Garden of Gethsemane in those moments leading up to the cross:

"In that moment, a sense of utter desolation washed over Him - a sense of homelessness, I believe, more intense than anything we can conceive of...His Father's presence had always been the Savior's secure and loving home. But in Gethsemane, Jesus is troubled beyond imaging as the horror of homeless anguish began to sweep over His soul."

Jesus knew what His journey to the cross meant. He knew that God would lay upon Him the punishment of our sin - the penalty of death. Not just physical death, but separation from God...abandonment. Because Jesus chose to willingly take our place, we never need to know that deep sorrow of rejection and abandonment.

In His parting words to His disciples, Jesus said, "And remember, I am with you always," (Matt. 28:20). It wasn't an empty promise, not just some cliche. Those words are of great value to Him. Jesus experienced that homelessness on our behalf, to ensure that we would always have a place with Him.

Always.
